Sculpture/Mixed Media
Statement
My work is a collection of reflective self portraits inspired by different complex relationships and scenarios throughout my life. Each personal connection has points of tension and ease, and I invite the viewer to find themselves in that spectrum. My sculptures draw inspiration from convoluted familial relationships, lost friendships, raw emotions, and my own mental health. Each piece goes through a process of extreme harshness by manipulation and firing, but also a gentle tenderness through glazing and final construction. This practice is a direct parallel to the interconnection we all have with each other, alternating through extremes but also peaceful moments of the in-betweens.
